Elastic deflection at any point along the span of a center loaded beam
Description
Elastic deflection is the degree to which a structural element is displaced under a load.
The deflection at any point, along the span of a center loaded simply supported beam can be calculated by the force acting on the center of the beam, the length of the beam, the modulus of elasticity and the area moment of inertia.
Variables
δc | Elastic deflection (m) |
F | Force acting on the center of the beam (N) |
x | Distance of the point along the span of the center loaded simply supported beam (m) |
E | Modulus of elasticity (Pa) |
I | Area moment of inertia (m4) |
L | Length of the beam between the supports (m) |
